Proof it works Oct 14, 2010
By Early A. Dopter At least in my experience i have proof it works. Taking it well over ten years, and when I was in the hospital for a week and didn't have it with me, my symptoms came back, and disappeared a few days after I resumed taking it. Meanwhile over the years it has consistently relieved the symptoms. Call that non-scientific anecdotal evidence, but it's good enough proof for me. P.S.: my urologist prescribed it, but I had been taking it for years before I started seeing him.

Top Quality, Great Price Dec 17, 2009
By W. Layman These Saw Palmetto oil extract capsules have twice as much "Serenoa Repens" (320mg) as most other oil extract products--Yet actually cost less! (Compare to Progressive Labs 60mg Serenoa Repens, also here at Amazon.com.)
Oil extract Saw Palmetto capsules aren't as likely to upset your stomach as the (much cheaper) "ground-up-plant-bits" versions from many other vendors.

Works for me Oct 23, 2011
By Busy Executive I have borderline high PSA and symptoms of BPH and my urologist suggested trying the herbal approach before going on prescription drugs that would likely have more side effects. Taking two a day, I started to notice a change in about 2-3 weeks, and now after several months, I'm pretty much back to normal. Tried a few brands, but these seem to be the ones I tolerate best.
I'm sure everyone's mileage will vary, but for me, these have been a great find. Definitely recommended.

Should You Use a Herbal for Prostate Health? Nov 16, 2007
By David Ross
"Cook, Chemist, Nurse"
Some scientific studies have shown that standardized saw palmetto extract in this dosage (320 mg daily of standardized extract) is effective in decreasing the symptoms of benign prostate hypertrophy(BPH). Other studies have shown that it is no more effective than a sugar pill. Overall, saw palmetto is thought to be safe and may be of some help for BPH. A key point is to look for a standardized extract such as this rather than just dried berries.
In simple terms BPH means that the prostate is enlarged and slowing down the male urinary stream. The downside of taking saw palmetto is that it should not be an excuse for avoiding an exam and discussion with your doctor. For example an exam and blood test may be needed to rule out prostate cancer. So man up and see your doctor if you have urinary symptoms that might be BPH or might be cancer. That done you can consider whether to take saw palmetto.
Doctors Best Best Saw Palmetto (standardized extract) is an identical product but at at half the cost per dose especially with Amazon's subscribe and save program. Doctor's Best Best Saw Palmetto Extract (320 mg), Softgel Capsules, 60-Count
