No help at all. May 19, 2012
By N. Rodriguez I suffer from allergies to my pets. I ran out of my usual prescription spray. I don't have insurance, so I have to pay for my medications at full price, and I thought this time I'd try this less expensive alternative.
I began using this about 2 weeks ago, and had to stop after about 4 days. Not only did it have no affect on my, it made my sinuses worse, and I spent 3 days with a headache that nearly drove me insane. I saved the receipt and am taking it back. As soon as I have enough money for my prescription allergy spray, I'm buying it!
Naturaly remedy (a plus), didn't do the trick (a minus) Apr 29, 2012
By Jon M. I suffer from chronic nasal congestion with no other symptoms*, in the right nostril only. I've been on a long list of medicines over the years, including oral antihistamines Zyrtec and Allegra, nasal sprays Astepro and Nasonex, liquid steroids like Budesonide and most recently Mometasone, administered through a nasal nebulizer. Overall, the medicines had no impact, while Astepro had a small impact in reducing chronic congestion. Skin tests for allergies show strongest reactions to dust, followed by pollens, grasses and trees.
Similasan seems genuine in creating and marketing a high quality product. I figured it couldn't hurt to try their spray. I also liked the idea of a natural remedy over the chemicals found in prescription medicines I've taken. I bought "Nasal Allergy Relief" and used two sprays once daily for a week without noticing an improvement. I also tried "Sinus Relief" in the green bottle. No improvement with that product either.
Unfortunately, Similasan will be joining the list of the products that simply didn't work. Hopefully you'll have better luck with it.
*I experience additional symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose in certain situations, such as when raking leaves or sitting in a thickly-carpeted room. Because I currently live in a hardwood-floor apartment, I am not exposed to those environmental triggers.
Mild effect Apr 25, 2012
By Elena Duhovny I ordered this nasal spray (along with the eye drops that didn't help at all) since I am pregnant and didn't want to use all the usual prescription meds for my seasonal allergies. I ordered this because of the advice I got from a colleague for a natural solution that works. I can't say the spray didn't help at all, but the effect was not very significant, especially in the mornings when the symptoms (sneezing, runny nose, etc.) exacerbate. It did help somewhat during the day through the toughest period. If I weren't pregnant I would have switched to something else, but I felt that in this case I could live with the sneezing for several weeks until it got better (unlike the itching eyes that I could not stand at all and had to get prescription drops instead of Similasan...). Wouldn't recommend this to people with severe seasonal allergies such as mine, unless you're really against drugs and insist on going with something natural.
It works. Apr 11, 2012
By Veronica My son had a runny nose for a couple weeks and nothing I had was working. He has a speech delay so the runny nose and congestion was really messing up our speech therapy. I went to Walgreens and got this along with some cough medicine and he has been A LOT better since. His nose isn't runny and his congestion is so much better.
