5Good Comprehensive Blend....Good Price Too  Feb 24, 2012
By Ambergris "John Thomas"
Melatonin has been one of my main weapons in an arsenal against insomnia for many years now. Back when I first discovered it I used to use it with a variety of other relaxation supplements separately. Not only was that cumbersome but also rather expensive. Melatonin blends like this one have been around for some time now. Just about all of them carry the same ingredients that include herbs like Gaba, Chamomile, and Valerian. All of these are popular ingredients that are well known for their relaxation and stress relieving properties. Normally I use 10 mg in two of the 5mg strength tablets of melatonin when I am using it straight, for my insomnia is a life long affliction that is apparently not going to ease in my older age. This Schiff blend is 3mg per tablet, but two of these at bedtime has proven to be quite effective for me with the addition of the extra ingredients. And, like all melatonin based supplements I have tried, this Schiff blend is no different in that it takes a while to work on me. I average 45 min to an hour to get sleepy enough to drop off on most nights. But it so far has never failed me. Every time I have taken this blend I have felt the relaxation and ease of anxiety ingredients working, as well as finally getting sleepy enough to turn off the lights and join la la land. I can't say that this keeps me asleep all night all the time, but in its defense I truly believe that nothing but a heavy prescription med could manage that with me. Suffice it to say I like this blend and find it very effective in both relaxing me and putting me to sleep in a resemble amount of time. One last observation, like just about all vitamins, herbs, and health supplements malatonin and blends like this come in a wide variety of prices, all of them promising to be the purest and best. I can't attest to that claim in many other supplements, but malatonin is something I have come to buy in the cheapest form I can find, simply because I have never noticed any difference in its performance in any higher priced brand. No matter how you feel about melatonin either straight or in a propitiatory blend, this Schiff Ultra at 300 tablets for around $8.50, (at the time if this writing) is a good bet price wise. It's even cheaper than some other brands of straight melatonin in lower quantities. I highly recommend this Schiff Ultra for both its price, and effectiveness. Pleasant dreams.. : )

5Helps With my Sleep and Anxiety Problems  Jan 12, 2012
By J. Wilson
Before I bought this product I did some research (google "may clinic" "Melatonin" for great information), and I highly recommend anyone considering this product do the same. It is sold over-the-counter in the U.S. but it is a prescription drug in many other countries including Canada and should not be used by everyone. I also looked up the other active ingredients L-Theanine and GABA, both of which promote sleep and reduce stress and are largely considered safe. The reason I started taking this product is several-fold: First, I am trying to quit drinking. I am not an alcoholic, but I find it hard to relax in the evening without having a few cocktails. Second, I suffer from a lot of anxiety. I don't know why, but it seems to get worse as I get older. I just worry about everything and when I a trying to sleep I have a hard time because of this feeling of "impending doom", well, that's the best way I can describe the feeling. There is no rhyme or reason to it. And finally, I just seem unable to get a full night's sleep anymore. I dread night-time because I know I will be alone with just me and my anxious thoughts. So I started with one pill, and it nocked me out. I don't remember any dreams, and I woke up very groggy. I felt fuzzy and dizzy all day and I was unale to concentrate on anything. The next night I took 1/2 pill, and I had the same results though not so severe. Then I started taking 1/4 pill and that seems to be the perfect dose for me. B.t.w., I am a 37-yr-old female, and I weigh about 170lbs. So I am now taking 1/4 pill about two hours before I have to go to bed. I usually take it with dinner, and by 9pm I am yawning and ready for sleep. The difference between taking the pill and not taking the pill is that when I lay down to go to sleep I don't have all that anxiety and feelings of impending doom. I sleep soundly throughout the night and I have very long vivid dreams. The dreams have actually been a very cool side effect because they are like movies. I'll wake up through half the dream because of my cat walking on me, then I'll go back to sleep and the dream will resume. The dreams have been pleasant. When I wake up I feel a little bit fuzzy but about 10 minutes after being awake I feel really, really great. My mood is uplifted, I don't have a bunch of anxious feelings, and I feel energized. If I remember, I will report back in about a month to see if these positive effects are lasting, and if I need to up my dose in the future.

1Does not agree with me  Mar 31, 2012
By NYAutumn
I have used the Schiff Melatonin Plus for several months with very good results. I thought I would "upgrade" to the Ultra. It took a few weeks of upset stomachs to make the connection that the Ultra does not agree with me. I see no added benefit as a sleep aid - the Plus actually worked better. I tend to wake up between 2 and 3 a.m. every night using this. I did not with the Plus. Everyone is different. I had read in reviews that this can cause stomach issues but didn't think it would impact me. I was incorrect. I am switching back to the Plus.

5The most effective brand of melatonin I have used!  Mar 22, 2012
By Eileen Heath
I have used melatonin for many years to help me sleep better (or remain asleep). I have tried different brands, and they vary a great deal in their effectiveness, which is to be expected since there is no standard for quality. I finally came across Schiff Melatonin Ultra and gave it a try. I have now been using it about a year, and I can't say enough about how well it works. It helps me relax (probably the theanine and other additives), and helps me sleep almost all night. For those who have not taken melatonin, make sure you wait until you are in bed and relaxed before you take it. I take it most nights, but sometimes take a break for a few days, and it seems to have more effectiveness when I start again. Again, I highly recommend this brand!
