4A Little Dab 'll Do Ya  Jul 12, 2010
By Rich Miller
Wonderful addition to your shaving regimine. The oil really helps the balde glide over your face and cut the whiskers rather than dragging and hacking. I'm not the biggest fan of the menthol and cloves scent idea but it actually smells good yet not overpowering. Read the various postings to help you decide but believe me, shaving oil is a definite positive addition to your shave. Just put it on before you lather up and you'll be good.

5This Stuff is the Real Deal!  Jul 17, 2010
By B. Gensel
I saw this stuff at WalMart several times before purchasing. Since using it, I can't imagine ever using creme again. I use the 5 drops on a wet face and shave with a Fusion. Closest, least irritating shave ever. As a bonus, I seem to be able to use the razor long after the lubricant strip turns white. I tried it as an electric pre-shave, but didn't find it as effective as with a blade. If you try it once, you will likely use it for life. Nice to find a product that exceeds expectations.

4Happy to know this secret.  Dec 17, 2010
By J. Blackburn
Color me impressed. I shave both my scalp and face. Lately, I've been unsatisfied, mostly with my head shaving, but I was ready to redo the whole routine, which hasn't changed for decades. I got a Merkur DE razor, a Tweezerman brush, some Col. Conk shave soap and I even got a stand to organize the stuff.

So I get on Google to get some lather making tips, and I read a comment along the way that mentions Shave Secret. I'm in an experimental mindset, so I Google Shave Secret and detour to Amazon. The reviews are uniformly positive, so I find some and give it the total test in one morning. I use it on my scalp which I shave with a Sensor Excel, and I use it on my face, which I shave with the Merkur DE. It all ends up perfectly smooth, and almost mysteriously without pain or damage or difficulty. Very unexpected.

I've only done it once, though I'm pretty convinced it's a viable new way for me to shave, and I'll stick with it. The process feels out of whack with the lack of a lathering step, but I can't deny the results. I got a very, very good shave using Shave Secret. I just wish I had found it at the beginning, before I helped the economy by buying some stuff I may not even use now. The DE razor yes, but the brush and soap, maybe not. I did do one day of brush and lather, and it was certainly more time consuming and involved than what this oil requires. Ritual is OK, but results without fuss are more to my liking.

The fragrance is OK. I could do without it, but it's not offensive. There's also a side effect of the oil, which is that after the shave, my skin doesn't feel as dry, or scraped off, as after a shave with soap or foam. At least one reviewer commented that it's expensive, but after seeing what 4 drops for my face and 6 drops for my scalp amounted to, it doesn't seem like it will go that fast. I would consider it quite inexpensive.

Give it a try, especially if you're a head shaver who's not satisfied with the results you're getting. And shaving while traveling might have just gotten a lot easier. Also, the instructions on the package say to rinse the razor frequently, and I think that's a good suggestion.

Updated 1/12/2011 - This stuff is still impressive, but I have found that the oil mixed with the cut hair clogs the blade(s) which reduces the effectiveness of the shave. I've tried to rinse with very hot water, and that doesn't do much. A small toothbrush swiped along the blade loosens and releases the buildup, but it's an extra hassle during a process that I'm just wanting to get through so I can get on with the day. I find myself reaching for the shaving soap just because it's less trouble. I've used Secret Shave with both a D.E. razor and a Sensor twin blade and experienced the clogging with both. I knocked off a star.

5Amazing shave with DE safety razors  Nov 18, 2010
By Poppin
Shave secret + double edge safety razor (Feather Blades, in my case) = Best Shave ever.

I usually follow with bump patrol (original formula) and then spf 30 face cream.

It took me 5-6 years of regular shaving to find this regimin, but I highly recommend the above combination to anyone who does not currently love their shaving experience.
