 I love this toothbrush! Feb 11, 2012

I honestly love this toothbrush, it gets my teeth cleaner than a regular toothbrush, and also helped to remove an old stain that I had on my teeth for years. I love the three modes, the first one is regular cleaning, the second is for gentle cleaning, and the third is a polisher. My teeth look so white and healthy after using this brush, I don't think I will ever use a manual toothbrush again. After the first time I used it there was a noticeable difference with my teeth. I am a smoker and love coffee, and I am allergic to peroxide, so my teeth didn't look very white, and I had to be careful what kind of toothpaste I used because only the good toothpastes that worked had peroxide in them, with the Braun 3D brush my teeth look as healthy as they feel. I get compliments on my smile, and people even ask me what I use now on my teeth!

I have owned this product for one year now. It seems well designed except for one really big flaw. The battery is terrible. When I bought the product the battery lasted about 1 week when fully charged (brushing twice per day). Now it lasts exactly 3 days, and the last day it runs very slowly. That means you really have to re-charge it after 2 days of use. It then takes 18 hours to charge! I purposely bought this model over the lower level model in their line-up assuming that it might have a better motor or battery, but it seems like it just has a gimmicky 3-speed setting which I cannot find any use for. My wife has a similar model (but without the 3 speeds) and it has similar battery life issues.
Until this product I was a big fan of Braun products. I have a Braun razor which I have had for many, many years. The battery is still going strong and lasts for days and days - and charges in less than an hour.
I also bought a Braun electric toothbrush for travel where you install your own AA batteries in. This product is very good. Costs me less than $20 as I recall and with a top-notch rechargeable battery I have had it last both my wife and I two weeks while on vacation! If this can last 2 weeks for 2 people, I cannot imagine how small and poor a quality battery Braun has installed on the 8850 model to last one person 2 days. (Note: I would not recommend the travel model for everyday use as it is a bit of a pain to change the batteries out and clean the 0-rings that seal the compartment).
I would definitely not buy the 8850 model again.

I needed a new toothbrush and couldn't decide between this one, the Oral-B Professional Care 1000 Electric Rechargeable Power Toothbrush 1 Count or Oral-B Professional Care 3000 Electric Rechargeable Power Toothbrush. I decided on this one because it was about the same price as the 1000 model but had 3 brush speeds. The 1000 model only had one speed. What I couldn't tell from the description on the page at the time I ordered was how many cleaning heads came in the box. The description talked about the 4 different types but only the precision clean head brush was included. It states that on the box I received. More would have been nice but the price was still good with just one brush head. I'll just order more from Amazon. The current description states 1 brush head.
In the past I had a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush and it lasted 5 or 7 years and then it died. At the time I couldn't afford a new one so I bought battery powered ones and they weren't the same. I ended up with an Oral B Vitality that is rechargeable but not with the same cleaning power that the Professional Care series has. That brush is still working but I can't seem to find brushes that fit it anymore. I decided it was time to shell out the cash for a better electric toothbrush. Even though I had fabulous dental checkups when I used the Sonicare, I decided to go with the Oral B because the replacement heads are more affordable. I also like the fact that the Oral B is made by Braun, a German company that is known for quality equipment. German engineering just works, works well, and lasts a long time.
As soon as I received the package I wanted to brush my teeth with it but I needed to charge it first. A charge cycle takes 18 hours. I was delighted that the package contained a travel case for the toothbrush that includes enough space for 2 brush heads. This travel case will certainly come in handy. The stand/charging unit of this toothbrush has a bigger base than I expected. That's because it is also a storage container that holds 4 brush heads. With other Oral B models some reviewers complained about not having a cover for brush head. If you pop the brush off and put it in the storage container, you won't need a cover.
The stand/charging unit comes with a small wall plate so that you can attach it to the wall and keep it off your countertop. I won't be doing that but others might find the wall plate useful.
Before buying my toothbrush I spent a lot of time searching the web including the Oral B site but I couldn't' find if this model is an older one or a special model. However, I am delighted with the purchase. It's a good toothbrush and my teeth feel wonderful, as if they were professionally cleaned.

This was all one of my grandsons wanted for Christmas. He's been seeing me use the one I have had for years and knew it would help him clean his teeth better since he is wearing braces. It was the best price I found and a real bargain. Many stores didn't carry this brand or model. I was very relieved to find exactly what I wanted and it arrived safe and sound. The look on my g-son's face when he opened his gift was priceless. His surprise and thankfullness made my shopping worthwhile thanks to Amazon.

We are very pleased with the Oral B rechargeable toothbrush. Our teeth have never felt so clean. Everytime I brush I feel like I just left the dentists office. I don't know why I waited so long to get one of these! I will never use a regular toothbrush again.
