5Best Prenatal Vitamin Hands Down!  Jul 31, 2011
By EMMIE
Hi! Here's my story.

In 2010 I got pregnant for the first time. I talked to a dear friend of mine who told me that she had done a ton of research and all prenatal vitamins were NOT created equal. She said that by far, she felt that these New Chapter Perfect Prenatal vitamins were the best ones out there.

Now I'm going to backtrack for a second. For the year PRIOR to getting pregnant I was constantly getting sick (even though I took vitamins everyday including a good woman's daily), etc. If there was someone walking down the street two miles from me with a cold or flu virus, I would catch it. It was so bad that I had friends and family telling me that I needed to go to the doctor to find out why I would get sick so incredibly easy. But truth be told, I had always considered my immune system to not be the greatest and had always picked up illness somewhat easily...even before that year when it had gotten particularly bad. I used to joke (although it's not really funny) that if I were born in "the olden days" I would have never made it out of childhood because I would have caught SOMETHING that would have easily done me in early because of how bad my immune system was!

Back to present day! I went on these vitamins for my pregnancy in 2010 and instantly felt wonderful. Unfortunately, my pregnancy didn't last -- the baby had a chromosomal abnormality and I lost it between 8-9 weeks. I had a few girlfriends, however, recommend to me that I stay on prenatals even after losing the pregnancy while we got ready to try again for another baby, which I did and I continued to feel great. But an extra benefit which I totally attribute to these vitamins is, that from the moment I went on them, I stopped getting sick all the time.

6 months later I was lucky enough to get a second chance, and conceived again. This pregnancy has gone amazingly well. I am getting ready to enter my 8th month and every step of the way the doctor has mentioned how strong and healthy our baby girl is. Many times he has said things like "Wow - you really only see that in super healthy and well developing fetuses." I am 41 years old and this will be my first baby. I am CONVINCED that being on these vitamins during and prior to this 2nd pregnancy has contributed to how healthy the baby is. Not only that, but it has now been over a year and a half since I have gotten sick. Right now, my husband is ill -- coughing and hacking and sneezing all over the place and I am feeling just fine. I'm immune! And that is something that just wouldn't have been possible a couple of years ago.

These prenatals do not upset your stomach. You can even smell the fruits and vegetables in them, so you know all the good stuff they say that they are made of are actually in there. Yes, they can be on the pricey side but I feel that the benefits they have provided me are WELL worth it (and the discounted price of them here on Amazon has helped). The only slightly annoying thing for me is that you need to take 3 of them a day...but if you carry some around with you and just remember to whip one out and have it with breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can get into the habit of taking them on schedule very easily.

At my OBGYN appt. last week I asked the doctor if after this pregnancy I could stay on these prenatals indefinitely because I love them so much. He said that they were a great vitamin and I could absolutely do so...after menopause they might contain too much iron but until then I should feel free. I was so happy to hear him say that! I can look forward to continuing to feel good and experiencing much less illness for a long time to come! And hopefully, to having maybe one more super healthy baby (if we end up being so blessed). :)

4Great product, but compare prices  Nov 04, 2010
By Jenna Glatzer
This is a wonderful vitamin that I've been using long-term, with no stomach upset.

I assumed that buying the larger count would mean savings per pill, but not so in this case. I compared the cost per pill of this 270-count version against the 180-count version, and at least on this site as of today, the 180-count version is cheaper per pill. Do the math before you decide which to buy.

5Great Natural Prenatal Vitamin  Oct 19, 2010
By Sam I Am
I highly recommend this item for pregnant and nursing moms who are looking for a natural prenatal vitamin. You can take this pill on an empty for full stomach. I had no trouble swallowing the pill and did not have any adverse reactions during my first trimester.

5Exact same formulation as the 192 tablet NCO Perfect Prenatal  Feb 23, 2012
By Jeri Zerr "road warrior of the nth degree"
If you are trying to decide between the 192 count New Chapter Perfect Prenatal, 192 Count and the Full trimester 90 day version New Chapter Organics Perfect Prenatal Full Trimester Vitamin Tablets, 270-Count, rest assured they are both the exact same formulation. Check the Subscribe and Save as well as the everyday prices, generally the full trimester is slightly cheaper per tablet (3 tablets per serving or per day). Even though the full trimester box is slightly larger, the glass bottles inside are the same size.

The New Chapter Perfect Prenatals consist of a good blend of multivitamins and minerals, however they are somewhat short on Calcium (7.5%) and Magnesium (3%). They also fall somewhat short on copper (aneurysms, spider veins, varicose veins), chromium (diabetes / pancreas), molybdenum, iodine (thyroid) and zinc (though zinc depletes copper still important for immune system).

From the package:
Serving Size 3 Tablets Servings per container (192 tablets = 64 servings, 270 tablets = 90 servings)

Three tablets contain:
Vitamin A (beta carotene) 5000 iu 100%
Vitamin C 60 mg 100%
Vitamin D3 1000 iu 250% (the DV is under dispute by the Vitamin D Council)
Vitamin E 30 iu 100%
Vitamin K1 70 mcg 88%
Vitamin K2 (MK7 best form!) 10 mcg 12% (MK7 = Grrreat!)
Thiamine (B1) 4 mg 267%
Riboflavin (B2) 5 mg 294%
Niacin 20 mg 150%
Vitamin B6 5 mg 250%
Folate 600 mcg 150%
Vitamin B12 30 mcg 500%
Biotin 300 mcg 100%
Panthothenic Acid 10 mg 100%
Calcium (from algae) 75 mg 7.5%
Iodine 90 mcg 60%
Magnesium 15 mg 3% (important to note...)
Zinc 7.5 mg 50% (Zinc depletes copper)
Selenium 50 mcg 71%
Copper 750 mcg 38% (depleted by zinc... deficiency scientifically linked to aneurisms in the poultry industry)
Manganese 2 mg 100%
Chromium 100 mcg 83%
Molybdenum 20 mcg 27%
Mixed Carotenoids 3 mg

The NCO Perfect Prenatals also contain a Prenatal Herbal Blend 300 mg consisting of Organic brown rice, organic oats, organic blueberries, organic prunes, organic blackberries, organic flame raisins, organic raspberries, organic dandelion, organic rose hips, organic lavender, organic lemon balm, organic peppermint, organic cloves, l.casei, l.plantarum, l.salivarius, l.acidophilus, l.rhamnosus, s.thermophilus, b.bifidum, b.infantis, b.longum, and b.breve) as well as Breast Support Blend 100mg consisting of organic broccoli, organic cauliflower, organic kale, organic daikon radish, organic cabbage and organic mustard.

The package of NCO Perfect Prenatals states the supplements are NON-GMO Verified, ISC Certified Organic and are cultured with beneficial live probiotics. The package also indicates the supplements are naturally gluten free, are 100% vegetarian with no artificial flavors nor colors. The supplements I received from Amazon had almost 2 years remaining before expiration. New Chapter Organics provides a toll free number 888-874-4461.

I highly recommend the New Chapter Organics Perfect Prenatals however I also recommend alternating the NCO Perfect Prenatals with another good quality whole food sourced brand to ensure none of the nutrients are missed over the duration of the pregnancy including from TTC, the pregnancy itself and continuing through the breastfeeding months. The nutrient deficiencies are of serious note considering the birth defects and chronic illnesses they are associated with including: Selenium deficiency is linked to cystic fibrosis and diabetes; magnesium deficiency is linked to inverted sternum, club foot, diabetes, hypertension, irritability, heart disease, violent tendencies; chromium deficiency is linked to diabetes; B deficiency is linked to spina bifada; D deficiency is linked to many illnesses and cancers; copper deficiency is linked to aneurisms (turkey farmers learned this expensive lesson in the 1950s); the list continues onward...

5great stuff  Aug 03, 2011
By Jowei
I took sample prenatal vitamins my OB/Gyn gave me, but they made me feel a little funny. I ordered these since they weren't synthetically made vitamins and made from organic foods. You have to take them 3 times a day rather than the typical once-a-day vitamins, but it's really not a big deal. They are also larger pills and not coated in the gelatinous/plastic-like conventional vitamins, but again, it did not bother me (but take the pill size into consideration if you have a hard time swallowing larger pills). I think they are great since they are made from whole, organic foods and they didn't cause any side effects. I wasn't tired or nauseous, I had a very good pregnancy, and my baby was a healthy 7lb, 10oz.
