I was specifically looking for Optio Green Tea, having used it several years ago with incredible success, but it was so expensive ($6 for 20 bags, add shipping to boot). I drank it in the past because of the 25x concentration of antioxidants. So, in my search for a more economical alternative I settled on EGCg Green Tea Extract by NOW. I was worried about this particular product because it contained 4 mg of caffeine and green tea normally makes me feel even worse than coffee. Having taken this for 2 weeks I can honestly say my fears were unwarranted, especially since the bottom of the label clearly says it is decaffeinated green tea that is used. It's not the strongest, nor the most concentrated product you can buy here on Amazon, but it is incredibly effective.
I have a condition that causes me to completely shut down and I can't stay out of bed for more than an hour or 2 at a time some days; this product has greatly alleviated that problem (I don't recommend taking it at bedtime, obviously). It doesn't make me feel jittery. I does make me feel much more clear-headed and alert for most of the day. I rarely take more than one a day. I've taken it on an empty stomach and with meals. I feel that I get more energy taking it before I eat. Again, this doesn't cause me a "caffeine high". I truly believe that the antioxidants in this product are what are giving me the "clean" energy. This is standardized to 98% Min Polyphenois, a deterrent to cancer, cardiovascular diseases and even osteoporosis (cf [....] ), 80% catechin flavonoids including 50% of the EGCG variety which are strongly antibacterial (cf. [...] )
The first reviewer appears to have, shockingly, tried to take these capsule without water; he must have thought that these were chewable! There is no other reason why a capsule of this size should cause anyone any sort of discomfort. It doesn't dissolve in your throat or esophagus unless you're literally dry swallowing the darn thing. Common sense, or lack thereof, shows the lack of wisdom the previous reviewer possesses. Just unbelievable.
On a side note, NOW products have consistently performed better at a lower cost than nearly every other brand I have ever tried. I worked for the largest nutrition chain in the World and ample opportunity to experiment with many brands of supplements. Dr. Weil products are also quite good, but sometimes are cost prohibitive to someone on a low income like I am.

I live a healthy lifestyle, exercise moderately and have a 35 year old metabolism, but still could not shrink that extra little chub. With 3 weeks now of taking two caps per day with my morning coffee, I've burned 2% body fat, and can visibly see a difference. I haven't changed my routine for 2 years, and all of a sudden things are changing quickly. I've also noticed a change in my food cravings and appetite for the better.
Now, this doesn't mean that you can order that extra value meal because you're taking them. It just means that along with your existing healthy lifestyle and exercise, that these (should) help burn off that fat and help control your appetite. For the price that they are, what have you got to lose? Try a bottle and see what you think.

This is not a wonder drug, but it makes a good difference in how I feel. Combined with exercise and a good diet, and you're set. This supplement is the cherry on top when you're trying to be healthy in an unhealthy environment.

NOW Foods seem to offer a good deal wrt price and quantity. I have it on good authority that their supplements are true-to-label. As far as the EGCg is concerned, well, anyone using it would have already looked up the benefits. Those who haven't, the best place to find unbiased information is on the FDA and USDA websites.

Good product for trying to lose weight ..just for an extra boost but you do have to watch your diet and exercise
