First Time Taking Enfamil Expecta Jan 09, 2007
By 1st time mom I first heard about Enfamil Expecta Lipil at a pregnancy nutrition course led by a nurse, who worked in prenatal for over 30 years. Since this is my first pregnancy, I didn't realize that omega-3 fatty acids were beneficial to the brain development of the growing embryo and fetus. I only knew at the time that pregnant women were supposed to be taking prenatal vitamins. I started taking Expecta Lipil around the 4th month of pregnancy. I figure it's never too late to start since I only learned of such information during my 2nd trimester. I am now starting my 3rd trimester.
I recommend this product based on several factors: 1. I didn't experience any side effects. 2. The product is manufactured by Mead Johnson, a reputable manufacturer of baby products. 3. The softgel is easily taken with my prenatal vitamins after a meal. 4. This brand was recommended by a seasoned health professional. 5. The product will definitely benefit my growing baby. 6. The purchase of a pack of 2 (60 gels total)definitely saved me some money. I ordered several packs to last for the duration of my pregnancy.
I only gave 4 out of 5 stars because initially I had difficulty removing a softgel from its blister packaging. The backing was not perforated. To easily remove a softgel, I punctured the backing with my thumb nail to tear it off. Also, absorption information was neither provided on the box nor at the manufacturer's website. This information would be helpful for the curious mother to roughly determine the amount of fatty acids that actually migrates into our bloodstream. This would allow me to keep track of my nutritional intake during my pregnancy. (In case you are wondering, I have a science background and have been working for the pharmaceutical industry for almost a decade.)

National news says DHA soon to be routine in prenatal care Nov 28, 2011
By Irishlawlass I took this during my pregnancy and during the 15 months I breast fed my daughter. I am a diabetic and worried about how that would impact my daughter's health. I did everything I could during my pregnancy to make sure she had the very best start, including eating almost exclusively organic, strict weight control and close doctor supervision. Not only was my daughter born fabulously healthy, she also went on to be seen by her pediatrician only twice in her first two years for illness (outside of well child visits, of course). I recently saw a report on the national news saying that DHA supplements like Expecta will soon become a routine/mandatory part of prenatal treatment in the US as study after study is showing that these supplements seem to be linked with children who get sick less in the early years of life (and possibly beyond). Aside from how easy this softgel is to take and how it has no side effects and no bad aftertaste (it's also FISH FREE) it's now linked to healthier babies and healthier mamas. I'm a cover-your-bases, better-safe-than-sorry kind of person and if you are too, why not do everything possible to give your baby the best start in life? Expect is wonderful and I hope more moms avail themselves of its benefits.

Recommended by my OBGYN and very easy to take!!! Oct 30, 2010
By CaliMom I am pregnant and initially purchased a high quality fish-based DHA supplement for my Dr.'s approval. He recommended Expecta over the fish-based supplement because it has all the same benefits but is derived from a different source that guarantees it to be mercury free. I have taken this my entire pregnancy and have no complaints. Easy to swallow, no after taste or indigestion, and affordable. I would recommend purchasing the 2 pack of soft gels to last for 2 months because at one per day, they seem to go fast.

No fishy burps! Sep 03, 2010
By kimam After using other DHA supplements that use fish oil, I appreciate using this DHA supplement. I don't burp the flavor of fish oil all day long.

Easy to travel with Oct 06, 2011
By Avid Peruser This is a great product that's easy to ingest. I also like how easy it is to travel with these individually packed gel capsules without having to find another container for them when going on trips.
