May clean some things, but it's NOT ultrasonic Dec 01, 2010
By Cyrus Collier First, a disclaimer that I did not buy this product for its designed purpose of cleaning manicure and pedicure drill bits. I needed to clean musical instrument reeds. Don't laugh! It works really well when you use a true ultrasonic cleaner.
That being said, the main problem with this product is that it's falsely advertised as an ultrasonic cleaner, which it's not. I also own the Optima Ultra Sonic Cleaner 350I, which vibrates at 42kHz (42,000 cycles per second, or about 2,500,000 cycles per minute), and is a true ultrasonic cleaner. The Medicool USB 1 bit cleaner only vibrates at about 7,200 cycles per minute, which is not even CLOSE to ultrasonic.
The product packaging doesn't claim that it's ultrasonic, so I think Amazon just needs to remove "Ultrasonic" from the listing title to avoid further misleading. Labeling the product as "Sonic" would be more accurate. It may very well clean salon bits, but I doubt it would clean nearly as well as the Optima Ultra Sonic Cleaner 350I, which I recommend much more for true ultrasonic cleaning.
