Great product, but only when refrigerated Oct 07, 2010

I love this fish oil! BUT DON'T ORDER IT FROM A MAIL ORDER COMPANY! It needs to be constantly refrigerated in order to be really good. This is the second time I've ordered it through the mail and both times it's tasted fishy and slightly off. When I buy it from a store where it's constantly refrigerated before being opened, it tastes totally like a lemon pie! It's worth paying the extra $6 or whatever per bottle to have it fresh and good.

I literally lick the spoon! Yum! Jan 02, 2009
By R. Welch My mother used to force me to take fish oil as a kid. I hated it! The taste was terrbile going down and then I had fish burps for the rest of the day. I always refused to take fish oil as an adult because of that experience.
Barleans Omega Swirl Fish Oil is different! It has a bright, tangy lemon flavor that Barlean's - Fish Omega Swirl Lemon Zest - 16oz.truly tastes great. I have to stop myself at one serving! The best thing is that there are no fishy smelling or tasting burps to ruin the rest of my day. I wish I had been brave enough to try this sooner, but now that I know, I will be a life long Barleans customer.
P.S. My daughter is a strict vegetarian and she loves the Omega Swirl Flax Oil in strawberry-banana flavor.

Love this stuff Dec 19, 2008

I swear to you I am not an employee of the company that makes this stuff. I have always had trouble swallowing fish oil pills and did not like any of the liquid products I had tried before. Omega Swirl tastes like lemon meringue and has a wonderful texture. I could happily eat ten spoonfuls of it or more (you only need one, obviously). It is literally delicious. I wrote to the company to thank them for this product because I am now a regular consumer and I am so grateful for the health benefits. I whole-heartedly recommend Omega Swirl. Let's keep this product on the market! If you are avoiding fish oil because you find it unpleasant, I promise you will love this.

Tasty! Nov 30, 2010
By Amy Peterson Definitely the best fish oil supplement I've ever had. It's like dessert. I give a spoonful to my 5 y.o. for attitude improvement (sat through a Dr. Dennis Embry talk, and this is the oil he recommended for kids.) I really like it for myself too, I'm 4 months pregnant with my second daughter, and I was gagging down gelcaps for the first couple of months, along with every other vitamin I'm supposed to take, and this is MUCH tastier. I can taste the fishiness, but my kid cannot. I blame hormones, since everything is much more intense for me nowadays.
I also have the strawberry banana flax oil, and it's okay, but you need more to get the minimum 1 gram dose recommended by Dr. Embry.
Only bad thing, and it's really easy to make sure this doesn't happen: DO NOT LEAVE IT OUT WHERE YOUR DOG CAN GET TO IT.
It is sweetened with xylitol, which is totally great for people, but TERRIBLE for dogs. If you think your dog got into this stuff, or into gum or toothpaste or baked goods with xylitol, RUN, do NOT WALK, to the emergency veterinarian. They can go into a diabetic coma within 30 minutes, and their livers literally give out if they take too much.
I happened to check after my dog got into our fish oil, thinking no big deal, but checking the bottle anyway and since it said "not for pets" in small type on the bottle, I looked up xylitol and found out how toxic it was. Luckily, I was really quick, and our puppy did not suffer too much damage, but BOY is it crazy scary.
So, give it to yourself and your kids, but NOT your dog. Fish oil is great for dogs, but NOT this xylitol sweetened oil, and be aware, it's really delicious and tempting, so your dog WILL go for it if it's in reach.
Luckily, so will you and your kid, so keep in the fridge and enjoy.

The 16oz gorilla in the fridge Aug 27, 2010
By Bean Slap I have tried fish oil in the past and it made me gag. I even tried mixing it with other sweeter foods and all it did was trash the food I was eating and made it taste even nastier. So I decided to try it again six years later. I expected it to taste nasty and perhaps even nastier due to the lemon flavor. I thought it would just taste like tart fish oil. So when I poured it out I winced, and put it back down. I remembered the nasty taste all too well. After about 30 minutes procrastinating with the cats I tried it again. I opened the bottle, smelled it and was surprised. It actually smelled good? I thought how clever of them to make it smell good and then make it taste vicious! However I put it to my mouth and gulped and it didnt taste bad at all! It tasted sort of good. It was a bit oily but basically like a smoothie! I had all sorts of sweet liquids (koolaid and soda) to quickly dash to in order to get the taste out of my mouth but ended up not using them! I'm quite pleased with it! I'm taking it in order to help me deal a bit better with stress and anxiety as I noticed while I was on the Perricone diet that my anxiety levels diminished quite a bit. So instead of eating gads of fish maybe I can just take fish oil and it will do the trick?
UPDATE: Alright, I just finished my first bottle and started another and this new one does have a more fish taste to it. Not unbearable but noticable, so I can understand how some are getting more fish tasting batches than others and coming away with different impressions of it. I still prefer this over the more overt tasting product but I think it may be a bet from bottle to bottle.
